The Analyst as Poet

Monday, Nov. 7, 2022

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm CST

Via ZOOM

Michael Harty, PhD, will present this seminar, "The Analyst as Poet,"

as the first in our 2022-23 Monday night seminar series!

There are substantial overlaps between the aims, products, and internal processes of the psychoanalyst's work and the poet's compositional endeavors. We will examine these areas of commonality, as well as areas where the two are divergent.

After attending this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe at least three ways the process of preparing a psychoanalytic intervention parallels the process of composing a poem.
  2.  Describe at least one way the aims of the analyst and of the poet are in conflict.

Date and Time: Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm CST

A Zoom link will be sent by Nov. 4th.

This seminar is open and free to the public!
