Christine Rio-Bistis Nadala, MD, PhD, will present this seminar, "Being the Other,"
as the second in our 2022-23 Monday night seminar series!
Sharing experiences from her years as a general physician and Psychiatry Resident in the Philippines, along with her practice since immigrating to Nebraska four years ago, Dr. Christine Nadala mines the riches of psychoanalytic theory to explore the challenges we face in today's complex and diverse, multicultural world. She currently is a GKCPI Candidate and a graduate of the GKCTPC's Fellowship Program.
After attending this session, participants should be able to:
(1) Describe what it means to “be the other” and learn how to predict and navigate difficulties due to cultural differences that may arise in clinical practice.
(2) Explain the impact of cultural differences and how those differences may lead to resistance to treatment.
(3) Explain how integrating traditional methods and practitioners within a given community may facilitate integration of newer clinical methods and create opportunity for healing of historical traumas.
Date and Time: Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm CST
A Zoom link will be sent by Dec. 2nd.
