Lori Hoodenpyle, JD, will present:

"Clash of the Titans: An Analytic Understanding of Mythic Imagination and Goddess Imagery in the Netflix Series The Crownas part of our 2021-22 Monday night seminar series.

  

After attending this session, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe three core differences between the theories of Freud and Jung.
  2. Apply the motif of goddess imagery to therapeutic treatment of women and girls.
  3. Explain how the self-destructive symptoms of eating disorders hold the potential mourning and recovery within the therapeutic setting.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Lori Hoodenpyle, JD,  is a Kansas City area attorney working with families on mediation and litigation in divorce, paternity, custody, protection from abuse and child in need of care matters. Beginning in the 1990’s, Lori developed a passion for psychoanalytic theory and is a graduate of both GKCPI psychoanalytic psychotherapy program as well as the four-year psychoanalytic training program where she graduated as an academic candidate. In addition, Lori holds a M.A. in Mythological Studies and Depth Psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute. Lori wishes to express her gratitude for the generosity and dedication of the many analysts and colleagues in GKCPI who have made possible a remarkable educational experience within a wonderful community.

About the Center

The Greater Kansas City and Topeka Psychoanalytic Center is a nonprofit organization which provides a forum for discussion of theoretical, cultural, and clinical ideas regarding psychoanalysis, as well as networking opportunities for professionals, through community forums, professional workshops and annual film series. Membership is open to any person with a serious interest in psychoanalysis. The Center is the parent organization of the Greater Kansas City Psychoanalytic Institute, which provides post graduate training in the theory and practice of psychoanalysis.
