What does it feel like when your parents change gender? This program will consist of a panel of transgender parents and their children. This forum will utilize transgender vocabulary, highlighting the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation, and give children and their parents an opportunity to discuss the effect of this new orientation on the children, the family, and their community. The goal of this seminar is to develop strategies to help individuals overcome and manage unconscious prejudice and lack of sensitivity in the community at large and to help professionals helping the transgender community deepen awareness and understanding of treatment issues that maximize the effectiveness of therapy.
